DDR5 has officially replaced DDR4 as the desktop memory standard. With starting speeds of 4800MHz going up to 8000MHz+, DDR5 delivers double the bandwidth of DDR4. However, timings (latency) are higher. A sweet spot for cost and performance is 6000MHz CL30/CL36. Upgrading requires a compatible DDR5 motherboard since DDR5 modules will not physically fit in DDR4 slots. Check your motherboard specs before purchasing!
